I’m surprised Beck didn’t himself say anything at all about Michael Jackson. All he said was that there was an update coming, but he was not the one who gave the update. He started right in on the Climate Bill that is trying to sneak through while people aren’t watching. I appreciate him letting us know about that, but I feel like he should have at least said something. He kept mentioning the release of the new Transformers movie, as if that was the big deal people would be paying attention to.

Anyway, the Climate Bill is over 1300 pages. It’s yet another bill that nobody has read through. They seem to think this is some kind of joke. They really should know what is in these things before they pass them. Even if they have a group of people to sit there and read portions and report back to them, that’s not enough. They are already paid so much money, and get so many perks and benefits, while the rest of us have real work to do. Are they really going to just sit there and make a joke of their job? They should be working harder than the rest of us! Do they even realize how important this is?!

In fact, I think that being a congressperson should be one of the hardest jobs in existence, especially if we are not going to have . It should not be a job they want to go back to except to serve the people. They should be almost like saints. They should get low pay and almost no benefits. That is the only way for a job like that to truly serve the people of the country. It should almost be like charity work.

OK, where was I? Oh yeah, he also mentioned how the people who are involved in this bill, including (the author of the bill) and , stand to profit highly from the bill. They say they will not profit from the bill, which is true. They will not profit directly, just from in companies that will profit. In fact, stands to make a from his if the bill passes.

Beck does not believe in the science behind , as there are still many scientists who disagree on whether it exists, and whether it is man-made if it does exist. I personally believe that it is important to protect the environment whether exists or not. Who wants to live under a brown sky, and get lung cancer without ever smoking a cigarrette?

I do agree, however, that the way is trying to handle the situation is totally backward. First of all, the bill should not be a potential income stream for any congressperson, especially if it is going to cause the cost of electricity and other products to skyrocket. Obama himself said that this is what his plan would do. Just that fact alone doesn’t make any sense at all in the current economic climate.

Phil Kerpin was a guest on the show and descibed the bill as a “watermelon bill:” thinly green on the outside, but deeply communist red on the inside. He also said that it’s basically another bailout scam for huge companies, such as GE, which will profit greatly while average American consumers will suffer from costs of nearly all goods and services going up.

David Buckner (find on LinkedIn) also came on and discussed how companies will be forced to make their products in other countries, which would contribute even more rather than less to , as many of those countries are not green at all. In my opinion, this is just another example of how these fast-moving emergency bills that nobody reads can have a lot of unintended consequences. It’s just stupid.

Darrell Issa (follow on Twitter), Republican California Congressman, was also a guest. They discussed the sweetheart mortgages that some congresspeople got (called “Friends of Angelo“) through Countrywide (including Chris Dodd). Bank of America apparently wants to release the information, but key congresspeople obviously do not want that information released. Both Republicans and Democrats benefited.

Beck talked a bit about $3.5 million dollars that will be spent on a tunnel for turtles. He said this sort of plan had failed in other cases, such as a similar tunnel built for toads that actually ended up killing the toads because it was too hot. As I said earlier in this post, these things can have unintended consequences. I just hope they do a better job on this one so they don’t kill the poor things. There was a really funny clip of it below. He had two turtles named Barney and Frank (LOL ), and they kept wanting to walk in their own pee (turtle part starts about 1:20).

Rus Thompson from albanyinsanity.com was the final guest. He filed a complaint against New York lawmakers for not doing their jobs. Apparently, the Republicans and Democrats won’t talk to each other, and are acting like high schoolers. They are basically not doing anything at all. He is actually pushing for an injunction to prevent them from getting paid until they do their jobs. I wholeheartedly agree. This goes back to what I said earlier. These people get so much money, perks, and benefits, paid for by American tax dollars, and look what Americans get for it!

March 16, 2009 Episode of the Glenn Beck Program

Before I begin on this episode, let me explain myself. I’ve decided to follow on his crazy train. He’s a little nuts, but I can’t help it. I just love the guy. I’m also a Libertarian, so that helps, although I don’t really agree with him on everything as he leans a little right for my taste.

Anyway, I started watching the show from the beginning on . That was the first I heard of him. I don’t listen to his because I don’t like talk radio, so this blog will cover just the on .

The goal of this blog is to simply cover what he talked about on his show each day, and discuss what I think of it. I don’t know if anyone else will be interested, but it’s fun for me because I enjoy writing down my thoughts. Hopefully others will join the discussion.

OK, here we go:

Beck started out talking about the 912 Project. I love the idea of it, although I’m sure there will be some and crazies out there that attempt to destroy it. Beck said the site was so popular that it was shut down for 30 hours with 500 hits/sec. That’s great to hear! I just hope they were real people rather than bots.

Beck went on to talk about how Obama is starting to sound just like McCain on several issues, even though he had called McCain “out of touch” for saying the same things. His examples were that Obama said the “fundamentals of the are strong,” and that he plans to tax health care benefits. I have to agree on this one. He definitely sounds a lot like McCain and even in some instances, even though he originally spoke out against those very same things when he was running. That’s politics for ya!

David Buckner (find on LinkedIn) came on to talk about spending in the for the RV capital of the world, Elkhart, Indiana, which is supposed to go toward an overpass. Yeah, I agree that some of the things in the don’t make sense. I just wish it never happened, and I’m tired of being reminded of all the stupid crap included that only affects a small portion of the nation.

Financial issues should all be handled at the most local level possible, starting with individuals helping each other and their communities, then communities, then cities, counties, states. The federal government should be the last resort for this stuff because all it sees are statistics, and so can in no way efficiently help out communities, much less individuals. I’d guess about 95% of our hard-earned tax dollars gets funneled through all the levels of bureaucrats, gets lost, gets stolen, or gets funneled into one of those departments with a nice name (to make you think it helps starving children or something like that), but which is not even set up yet and actually goes to a couple of idiots who sit there and collect money. 5% gets to where it’s supposed to go.

Liz Claman came on to talk about the bear market stock market rally. Neither of them think it will last, and I agree with them on that. They also mentioned how household wealth has fallen $11 Trillion dollars. That’s so much money, it’s hard to comprehend. I’m just trying to make a few hundred to pay all my bills. Crap.

They played a hilarious fake commercial about Beck’s “school girl blubbering,” and setting your Tivo to record the show and skip to the commercials to help the . LOL  Here ya go (the “commercial” starts at about 4:08):
