My name is Lorin Dyrr (pronounced “deer”).  I am a mother of two great kids who are now grown. They are both trustworthy and have great values; I feel relieved that they turned out so well. I am also a “mom” to my nephew who is as important to me as my two kids, and who is equally terrific as the two biological kids.

The study of nutrition and gardening and fine cooking has been a life long interest of mine. I am enthusiastic about sharing a life time of research and real life experiences with others. After all, there is no substitute for experience. I know from experience that there is no substitute for the actual thing.

When my parents owned a store where we sold art supplies, paint, wallpaper and other home DIY items, I discovered that you can’t give good advice to a customer about how-to-do-it if you haven’t done it yourself.  Understanding the nuances of painting, for instance, can only be understood by picking up and using the brush yourself.

I was practically raised in a health food store and was co-owner of a farm in Santa Barbara, CA county. I had a hair-brained idea to start a business and wound up inventing and patenting a pretty darned successful oxygen product.

Because of that business, it was possible to interface with thousands of people. Everyone who was involved in the business with me learned that the people with whom we interfaced were in real need of information about how to do common sense, everyday things that would contribute to their own and their family’s well being.

This blog will be about sharing what I’ve learned in the real world. I am sharing info, but am not selling anything. If you wish to research any topic, I will try as much as possible to give you pointers about finding good additional info on certain topics. I do have my favorite sources for items I purchase, but am not interested in doing advertising as part of this blog. If you have a particular interest in something and are unable to find a source of information or a supplier, email me and I will endeavor to assist you.
